I believe sometime in 2023 was the first time I saw anything about "Project 2025", the Heritage Foundation's blueprint for the dismantling of our democracy.

To be honest, I read the introduction and the first few paragraphs of the opening chapters. Just that much of it was enough to set my hair on fire! Concentrate power in the Presidency/executive branch? End the education department? Mass deportations of immigrants?! Have Christianity be, in essence, our national religion?!!
HAIR ON FIRE MOMENT!
I began to ask others if they had heard of this. No, they said. What was it? So, I told them. I gave them the link to the free download of the "Mandate For Leadership", the 900+ page Project 2025 document. I said one need not read the entire thing. I put it gently. "Just read the first fifty pages. Let me know what you think."
What happened next was that most people did not look at it. They certainly didn't read the darn thing! Had they done that, I think it is quite possible we would not have a President Trump right now. In November 2024, millions who had never paid attention to that project document, and who ignored or dismissed the fact that Donald Trump and Stephen Miller said these things out loud, voted for Trump.

Since January 20, 2025, the Trump administration has done what the blueprint says to do. Deport mass numbers of immigrants? Check!
Challenge our Constitution's birthright citizenship provision? Check!
Get rid of 50,000 federal workers, our experienced civil servants? Check!
Challenge our system of voting, trying to get rid of absentee and mail in ballots? Check!
From all of those things, to ICE disappearing people, to seeing armed troops in our cities now, including our nation's Capitol, what is the big surprise?!
HE TOLD US WHO HE WAS!
Donald J. Trump is a narcissist, a psychopath, a very broken man who thoroughly enjoys seeing others in pain. His own family members describe him as being cruel to others, even as a child. Dozens of psychiatrists have weighed in, saying he is severely mentally unstable.His father and grandfather were both racists, and were criminals in the real estate business, with mafia connections. Trump's father chastised him, his depressed mother ignored him, and at boarding school, he was unpopular and bullied by others.In adulthood, he has bankrupted many of his businesses, including casinos. He has a reputation for not paying contractors. He is an adjudicated rapist, and was found guilty of felony business fraud, times 34 counts. He also attempted to unlawfully stay in power, as we watched in January 2021!
So, yes, he is one fucked up piece of work, a person that psychiatrists will use as a case study years from now.
BUT HE IS THE PRESIDENT!
It is simply not acceptable for "the leader of the free world" to strip freedoms from people in his own country! There is no clearer sign that he is unhinged! Even more, it is an outrage that Congressional Republicans are not calling this what it is-an attempted fascist takeover of America! Rather than risk angering this one man (if you combine Trump and Stephen Miller, it might add up to one man), they will watch as people are sent to foreign concentration camps or prison cages in swamps. They will stay silent as Trump orders troops to deal with "the enemy within"-all of us! They will dismiss that he told hundreds of generals and admirals that if they won't agree to his demands, they will be fired, lose their pensions, etc. They also seem to be unconcerned that Trump and Pete Hegseth told military leaders they should use American cities, blue ones, for combat practice! Apparently, these lawmakers are indulging in the same delusion everyone has sadly experienced with President Trump: They believe if they placate him, he will be nice. He won't throw them under the bus, the way he has done to anyone else who defied him. For the most part, Democrats have talked, but few have taken bold steps to halt this. Where are they when the people are protesting, marching, and being tear gassed and shot?! I've seen a handful out there. Why are they not organizing strikes or finding people who can?
